Students who complete the STEM Summer Institute are encouraged to stay with the STEM Program through the academic year in the STEM Mentoring Program. Middle school students are matched with mentors from local universities and young professionals in STEM fields for science and engineering activities and fun.
The STEM Mentoring Program will not be accepting applications from new students. Please visit our Resources section for other opportunities for middle school students. 7th through 10th graders will be eligible to apply for SEED Academy in fall 2016.
All educational, admissions and food costs are generously covered by our funders.
One Saturday per month during the academic year, all middle school students and mentors meet for brunch and a science and engineering activity. In the past, these have included design challenges, trips to the MIT Museum, and scavenger hunts around campus.

Middle school students and their mentors are encouraged to communicate at least once weekly outside of the monthly Saturday brunches. This communication can include emails, phone calls, or in-person meet-ups. These are informal opportunities for the students and their mentors to better get to know each other.
